College of Health Convocation
Convocation for the College of Health will be held at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. All students graduating from the College of Health will have degrees conferred during the Convocation ceremony
Line-up/Seating of Graduates
All candidates should plan to arrive in cap and gown by 4:15 p.m. at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Undergraduate Candidates will go directly to their seats on the floor of the arena. The seating will be by department as designated by posted signs. College personnel will be on hand to assist in seating candidates.
Masters and Doctoral Candidates will line up on Campus Center Drive (which is located west of the Jon M. Huntsman Center) between the Huntsman Center and the University Services Building. Candidates will assemble in separate lines by department or division.
Guest Seating
Tickets are not required to attend Convocation and any interested attendees are welcome. Guest seating is available in all sections and rows of the Huntsman Center not reserved for handicapped individuals. The academic processional will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. Families and guests should be seated prior to that time.
Special Seating/Accommodations
Special seating arrangements for guests in wheelchairs or those having difficulty walking are available in Rows 30 and 31 in all areas of the Huntsman Center, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. There are seats available near this special seating area for those accompanying persons in wheelchairs. It is suggested that you arrive early to guarantee a seat in the area in which you would like to be seated.
A Sign Language interpreter will be provided, upon request, for the College of Health Convocation near Sections 23 and 24. For anyone requiring an interpreter, please give reasonable prior notice to the Center for Disability Services at 801-581-5020 (voice/TDD).
Students or guests with disabilities may also give reasonable prior notice and request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at 801-581-5020 (voice/TDD).
Parking
Campus parking lots may be used at no charge during Convocation and Commencement ceremonies. Families are encouraged to drop off elderly guests and those who cannot walk long distances in the Huntsman Center circle drive before parking their cars. The closest parking to the Huntsman Center is directly south in the LDS Institute lot. Guests may also park in other lots and catch a University shuttle to the Huntsman Center.
Cap and Gown Orders
Student graduates can pay for and pick up graduation regalia at the University Bookstore's GRAD FAIR during April 2009. Go to University Campus Store for additional information.
University-Wide Commencement
The University of Utah General Commencement will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. This University-wide ceremony will confer all College degrees en masse (except the Schools of Law and Medicine).
All graduates should arrive in cap and gown by 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot south of Milton Bennion Hall. Groups will assemble in four separate lines by college and within colleges by degrees. Staff members from Student Affairs will be on hand to assist graduates. The processional will begin at 8:20 a.m.
Guests should plan to be seated before 8:30 a.m.
Diplomas
Diplomas are mailed to student graduates within three months of graduation.
