Western Laboratory for Leisure Research (WLLR)

The WLLR is a comprehensive research laboratory, with a purpose of advancing the scientific knowledge base in parks, recreation and tourism by promoting and facilitating research on basic and applied topics.WLLR services include the following:
- Organizing and conducting seminars, workshops and conferences.
- Planning model programs.
- Designing research, collecting and analyzing data.
- Developing computer software programs.
- Evaluating programs or services.
- Designing and testing measurement instruments.
Some recent projects have included:
- Studying the Special Olympics Unified Sports program.
- A Pace of Play study for golfers with disabilities.
- A needs assessment for an adult day care center. The WLLR also hosts the PEER program (Partners Exploring Excellence through Research). This is an innovative service designed to assist organizations in identifying resourceful solutions for funding, preparing grants, designing evaluation and research approaches, and managing grants.
