Neighborhood Action Coalition

Working together for safer, healthier neighborhoods.

What is the Neighborhood Action Coalition (NAC)?

The NAC is a community-based program that offers resources and technical assistance to communities in the areas of:

  • Training
  • Evaluation
  • Program Development
  • Youth Initiatives

NAC is founded on the Communities That Care model, which is based on over 30 years of research on the factors that place young people at risk. In Utah, a number of communities are currently utilizing the Neighborhood Action Coalition Process to develop strategies for building healthier neighborhoods.

How can the NAC help our neighborhood?

NAC provides a way to link all of your prevention efforts through one program. NAC also aids communities in organizing and maximizing available resources and in addressing identified priorities throughout your neighborhood.

How does the NAC Process work?

  • Involves and trains key leaders in your community who are committed to preventing substance abuse, violence, gang activity, and teen pregnancy.
  • Increases community involvement and establishes a common vision.
  • Develops a profile of your community's issues.
  • Evaluates existing resources and assists with creating a thorough plan to meet the needs of your community.
  • Identifies and educates concerning effective prevention strategies.
  • Establishes a comprehensive prevention approach in your community.
