The mission will be accomplished through a variety of meaningful occupational therapy treatments (group and individual) for clients with occupational challenges, life skills needs or physical, cognitive and mental health impairments.  The Life Skills Clinic’s philosophy is to provide client-centered, strength-based treatment addressing goals ranging from basic self-care related activities to more complex return to work or full-life participation goals.

The Life Skills Clinic is committed to clients, students and to research using or creating evidence-based practice with a community focus.

Life Skills and Community Integration Group (LSCIG) for Young Adults with Cognitive Disabilities

LSCIG is designed to engage young adults (18-30) with childhood onset disabilities that impact cognition in acquiring new skills needed to participate in meaningful independent living.   The skills will be taught in a small group format once per week for 10 weeks.

Comprehensive Low Vision Evaluation and Life Skills Participation Therapy (LV)

Decreased vision does not have to lead to loss of independence.  The goal of the Life Skills Clinic’s  Low Vision Service is to provide a way for people who have low vision to maintain a full and productive lifestyle.  Our treatment focus is on how to become more independent using a person’s remaining vision.  We have a Low Vision Optometrist and an Occupational Therapist who is a Certified Low Vision Therapist on staff.

Mastering Meaningful Movement (MMM)

Mastering Meaningful Movement (MMM) is a class for adults with hemiplegia.  This community-based exercise class is designed to be an affordable class to promote strength and flexibility while encouraging normal movement patterns and ways of incorporating these patterns into daily activities.
