Application Process

The application deadline for fall matriculation in both the Coordinated Master's Program and the Nutrition Sciences Master's Program is February 3rd. Both programs MUST begin Fall semester. Applicants must be accepted by both the Graduate School of the University of Utah and by the Division of Nutrition.

Step #1

Apply to the Graduate School at the University of Utah

Graduate School applications are due January 3rd. Be sure to include:

  1. Completed application.
  2. Transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended (transcripts MUST be sent directly from the college or university).
  3. Application fee.

Step #2

Apply to the Division of Nutrition at the University of Utah

Application due February 3rd. Be sure to include:

  1. Cover letter stating to which program you are applying.
  2. A completed program application.
  3. GRE scores including verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing sections.
  4. TOEFL scores (foreign students only).
  5. Three (3) letters of recommendation.
  6. Official transcripts from ALL colleges attended. These transcripts MUST:
    • be complete;
    • include grades for current course work;
    • be sent directly from the college or university.
  7. A typed or computer-generated, 350-word statement describing motivation for seeking a master's degree in Nutrition, relevant experience, as well as any autobiographical information pertinent to past growth or future potential should be included.
  8. A typed or computer-generated, 350-word statement describing previous research experience including specific course work and/or current research interests. Include a statement of why a master's degree that requires a thesis project will help you achieve your professional goals. (Some of the information presented in this statement and in the previous statement may seem redundant.)
  9. Copies or reprints of abstracts, manuscripts, or other published material of which you are an author or coauthor.
  10. $40 nonrefundable fee made payable to the Division of Nutrition.

Step #3

Apply for Financial Aid

Financial aid application materials are due no later than February 1st but can be received with your application materials sent to the Division of Nutrition.
