The purpose of InQuRi is to act as a resource for University of Utah students and faculty and to improve the ability of faculty and staff to conduct qualitative research.

InQuRi expands the University of Utah's capacity to:

  • Conduct qualitative research
  • Conduct qualitative assessment and evaluation projects

  • Educate and train other research faculty in qualitative designs and methodologies.

InQuRi and HCC
InQuRi is distinct from but works closely with another institute under development called Humanizing Care Contexts (HCC). HCC is an institute housed at the college of nursing. As its name indicates, HCC focuses on "care contexts" in the fields of health, education, psychology, etc. It emphasizes grant-based research whether qualitative, mixed-method, or quantitative. In contrast, InQuRi focuses primarily on building and strengthening the community of qualitative researchers at the University of Utah. It does this by supporting qualitative-interpretive methodologies particularly through general educative efforts and faculty workshops.
