Coursework
M.S. Degree Credit Hours
Masters students should complete at least 36 hours of coursework for their master’s degree.
Coursework is an integral part of the M.S. program. This program of coursework was designed to provide a background of information in which each health educator, health promotion specialist, or prevention specialist should be competent. Further, this program of study offers students the flexibility to develop their own area of expertise.
Core Classes
The core classes are taught as a cohort each Fall and Spring semester generally in the evenings from 4:30 to 10:00 pm.
Core classes cover the core philosophical, methodological, and research competencies that a professional in health promotion and education should have. All students will be required to take the HEDU core classes listed below unless you request a waiver. Taking equivalent classes in another department when the student could have taken the classes in our department will not be approved. Approval of a core class wavier is by the graduate committee and the Director of Graduate Studies.
