Department of Health Promotion and Education

Ed.D. Program

The Ed.D. degree is awarded for exceptional achievement in an advanced area of study. It requires competence in educational and/or organizational theory and a broad understanding of related fields of study. The Ed.D. is a professional degree with a two-fold purpose.

First, this degree is designed to provide advanced training to health professionals in leadership positions to develop and evaluate health promotion programs.

Second, the Ed.D. degree can be tailored to prepare students interested in teaching at the university level to develop an area of expertise and provide beneficial experience in the university classroom setting. As an Ed.D. student, you will work closely with your committee chairperson to design and implement the program that most closely fits your needs.
