The NREMT accepts distributive continuing education (Internet, video, audiotape, etc.) that has received official approval through a state EMS office and/or through the Continuing Education Coordinating Board of Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). They DO NOT recognize our Online DOT Refresher course but will accept continuing education as noted below.

NREMT-Basic:
May complete up to 10 hours of the SECTION 1-A requirements and may complete up to 24 hours of the SECTION 2 requirements using online continuing education.

NREMT-Intermediate:
May complete up to 10 hours of the SECTION 1-A requirements and may complete up to 18 hours of the SECTION 2 requirements using online continuing education.

NREMT-Paramedic:
May complete up to 10 hours of the SECTION 1-A requirements and may complete up to 12 hours of the SECTION 2 requirements using online continuing education.

The total number of hours which may be applied towards EMT-I, EMT-II, or EMT-III recertification is limited to 24 hours per two year certification period and there is no limit for paramedic.

Arizona requires each EMS Professional to be affiliated with a Base Hospital. Each Base Hospital has a training coordinator, who is responsible for approval of continuing education and for verifying that each affiliated professional has completed the appropriate continuing education.
