Recent Research Activities/Interests:
- Mechanisms of fatigue in individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and multiple sclerosis
- Fatigue responses to moderate and heavy exercise
- Cortical excitability changes in response to fatiguing exercise and heat exposure
- In collaboration with researchers in the Department of Anesthesiology and Neurology, we examine gene expression of muscle receptors involved in fatigue and pain perception. I also examine central aspects of fatigue using transcranial magnetic stimulation and fMRI.
