CSD Department Scholarships & Grants

Utah State Office of Education Grant

$1250 per semester excluding summers (max 4 semesters).  Available to graduate Speech-language pathology students only. Number of grants available per year varies (average is 10 new per year). Must obligate 2 years full-time employment in Utah Public Schools. Application for this scholarship should accompany departmental graduate school application/materials. Please contact the Administrative Assistant for further details.

Faculty Grants

Possible employment opportunities are available to undergraduate and graduate students. Individual faculty members may have funding available to hire student help. Please feel free to inquire about employment opportunities with individual faculty.

NOTE: The following scholarships are only available to second year graduate students and/or admitted doctoral students.

Hartley Scholarship

Available to 2nd and 3rd year graduate students in speech-language pathology or audiology. Inquire at CSD office about availability and funding.

Dolowitz Scholarship

Available to 3rd year graduate students audiology. Inquire at CSD office about availability and funding.

Broadbent Scholarship

Available to 2nd year graduate students in audiology. Inquire at CSD office about availability and funding.

Lamborn Scholarship

Available to Ph.D. students in speech-language pathology or audiology. Inquire at CSD office about availability and funding.

College of Health Scholarships & Grants

Kennecott Scholarship

$2500 - two awards available. Available to matriculated undergraduates in the College of Health with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. Applications available in the CSD office or the Dean's office. Application deadline early January.

J. George Jones Jr. and Velma Rife Jones Diversity Scholarship

One year full tuition. Scholarship selection criteria: Undergraduate student with declared College of Health major, 3.5 GPA, financial need, ethnic diversity (preferred), distinctive strengths (community service, leadership skills, etc.). Application deadline varies. Usually due on or before April 1.

Education Resource Development Council Scholarship

Available to junior, senior, or graduate students. The number and amount of the scholarships offered to College of Health Students vary. Selection criteria: 3.5 GPA, a full time declared major in the College of Heath whose field of study focuses on the needs of women and children, with an emphasis in diversity. Application deadline varies. usually due on or before March 1.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program provides undergraduate students with opportunities to collaborate directly with faculty in research.

Western Regional Graduate Program

Beginning in Fall 2006, the University of Utah Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Ph.D. training programs participate in the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP), which is coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission of Higher Education (WICHE). Residents of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming who are admitted to either of our Ph.D. programs are eligible to enroll at resident tuition rates.

Terrell H. Bell Incentive Loan Program

Applications available from the Dean's Office, College of Education, University of Utah. SLP graduate students planning on working in the Utah Public Schools may be eligible to apply. Application deadline is February 1 for transfer and continuing students, March 30 for entering freshmen.

Elizabeth Fuhriman Gardner Prize

$1000 cash award. Selection criteria: An outstanding woman student in the Health Sciences, Distinctive strengths (community service, academic performance, etc.). Deadline varies. Nomination usually due on or before February 1.

Bamford-Lahey Children's Foundation

Funds of up to $10,000 per year to support a doctoral student specializing in children's language disorders. All applicants are required to hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology or equivalent. More information available at: www.bamford-lahey.org/scholarships.html
