FIND FUNDING SOURCES

Start with the intramural grants that are offered. These are typically smaller grants in terms of money, but will help you to develop your track record as a researcher.  Intramural Funding Opportunities

Next, go to Community of Science, Grants.Gov and The National Institute of Health as well as foundations and diagnositc specific sponsored research websites. Do some research and find out which organization or funding opportunity matches your research idea and expertise.

Determine your funding strategy. You will start with funding for pilot studies that demonstrate your abilities as a researcher. Then you will be competitive for larger intramural funding. You can then apply for smaller foundation and NIH grants. Eventually you will be competitive for a large NIH or other grant. You will have proven that your idea and your skills are valuable and worth funding.

Remember to contact the Research Facilitation Team. We can help you with your strategy, determine if your idea is a match, and help you understand the proposal requirements.
