ABSTRACT

The abstract is a concise summary of your proposal that should be able to stand on its own. Most agencies put a page limit (i.e. half a page) or a word limit (i.e. 500 words), so you'll need to write very efficiently. Begin with the research question, then describe your design and methods, and finish up by explaining the importance of the potential findings.

The abstract is generally written after the other components of the proposal have been solidified. You'll want your abstract to be top notch - it may be the only page that some of the reviewers read - so be sure to revise, revise, revise.
